The Inside Scoop On Instagram (November 2021 Update)

Great news, everyone! Instagram has recently published two important, long-asked-for updates to their platform: Story links for everyone and posting directly from the website. Read on for a summary of what this means for you!

Sharing Links in Stories

When Instagram first started allowing users to share links in their Stories, the feature was only available to verified accounts and users with over a certain number of followers. After listening to feedback from their userbase, as well as being “inspired by the change-makers on our platform and those who want to turn their passion into a living by sharing links,” they have opened the feature to all accounts regardless of size! Here’s how you can do it:

To add a Link sticker:

  • Capture or upload content to your story
  • Select the sticker tool from the top navigation bar
  • Tap the “Link” sticker to add your desired link and tap “Done”
  • Place the sticker on your story — like our other stickers — and tap on the sticker to see color variations

Not only is this generally an encouraging display of a large company really caring about their audience, but this is a crucial advantage for businesses growing their following. Social media marketers will now be able to direct their Story viewers straight to content on their website, service contact forms, and product landing pages.

Post to Instagram from the Web

Again, Instagram is really listening to their users. For nearly the whole life of the platform, Instagrammers have wanted the option to post to their feeds from the Instagram website, not only the mobile app. That function is finally here! All you have to do when you go to your Instagram.com account on a desktop or laptop computer is hit that square + icon, just like on mobile.

We are so thrilled that Instagram has decided to enact these major updates. As they come out with more behind-the-screen announcements, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here as well!
