Our team at Go Getter Marketing Group is comprised of business owners, freelancers, and marketing geniuses!
It’s our belief that every marketing genius has a set of go-to tools, items, and random things they must have to stay organized, creative, or sometimes sane.
With our team ranging from experience levels from one to two decades, we’ve learned a lot along the way and we are ready to share.
Here is our list of tools, tips, and resources that can help make your entrepreneur or marketer life smoother and more fun. We asked our team to share their list of must-have things that keeps them productive. Here’s what everyone had to say about their favorites.
Sonja’s Must-Haves
Our Co-Founder and Director of Marketing, Sonja Crystal Williams, wears many hats in the marketing world. She heads up our agency, works with clients, serves as our lead trainer, and operates a solo brand for consulting and training, in addition to hosting the 10 Minute Marketing podcast.
On top of running two businesses, she also teaches Pilates, is an active mother, and has even more collaboration projects in the works.
For someone like Sonja, she needs to stay organized, grounded, and on the move. Here are some of her favorite tools that help her achieve it, and what she had to say about each item on her must-have’s list.
- Laptop Stand: Absolutely need it. It helps with my posture on days when I need to be at the desk all day.
- Noise-Cancelling Headphones: These are great for meetings and conference calls in noisy public places.
- Action Day Planner: I use my Google Calendar, but I also need one with pen and paper.
- Oil Diffuser with lavender or tea tree oil: Just because… And tea tree oil specifically to help if I’m feeling sick.
- Emergen-C: Also to help keep me from getting sick. I don’t have time to be sick!
- Fitkicks: I hate wearing shoes, so sometimes I wear these instead. The freer I (and my feet) feel, the more I can tap into creative thinking. My next (foot)step is also to get a walking pad or mini treadmill to keep under my desk.
- Thank You Cards: I like handwriting small notes sometimes and want my clients and friends to feel thought of.
Kylie’s Must-Haves
Our Social Media Assistant, Kylie Yockey, is a classic Millennial marketer. Her grindset includes running the social media accounts for Go Getter, working in the literary industry, and freelancing as a social media and marketing expert for other teams.
Kylie works remotely and has extensively travelled and lived across the US and Canada. Here are some of the tools that help her stay on top of her digitally nomadic lifestyle.
- Two iPhones: I have a separate work phone so that my personal accounts don’t get mixed up with professional ones. I fear every social media marketer’s nightmare of posting to the wrong account.
- Professional Podcasting Microphone: I didn’t think it’d really make a big difference in sound quality and shutting out background noise, but it so does.
- Color-coded Calendar: There is a calendar in every room of my house and on every device, each color-coded for different jobs’ tasks and meetings, personal events and reminders, and to-do lists scaled by priority. As a neurodivergent marketer, I’ve had to work smarter not harder so I can stay on top of everything.
- Stylish Briefcase: For working at cafes or the library, because I’m always more productive when I feel cute!
Lenaya’s Must-Haves
Lenaya Davis, our Digital Marketing Associate, has one of the best work-life balances in the game. She seamlessly juggles marketing tasks for our clients while rocking new motherhood and being a fashion icon on Instagram.
Here are some of her favorite tools that help her succeed in the world of digital marketing so that she has plenty of time for life out-of-office.
- Digital Calendar: For all my scheduling, meetings, and reminders.
- Trello: I love using it to organize content and stay on top of due dates.
- Canva: Essential for tapping into our creative digital marketing side!
- Computer Bag: I love packing up my marketing essentials and heading to the coffee shop to knock out some work.
Team Must-Haves
Marika Dye, our Digital Account Manager and Business Development Associate, turned our whole team onto Rocketbook, a notebook that uploads your handwritten notes to your digital filescape. It’s been a game-changer to be able to send those notes right to our phones, emails, Google Drive, iCloud, and more.
Some other must-haves our entire team loves are…
- Blue light glasses: These are perfect for spending hours staring at a screen. Sonja even incorporates eye-break exercises that she found on YouTube for the especially long screen sessions that exhaust your eyes. Eye protection is a must!
- Notes apps: We are all big notetakers here at Go Getter. Whether it’s our phones’ default Notes app or apps like Evernote, it’s imperative for us to be able to jot down ideas or reminders at a moment’s notice.
- Mini tripod: These are great for capturing b-roll videos and photos of us typing away at our workstations, since it’s not always easy to get the right angle doing it selfie-style. Kylie’s tripod even has a built-in ring-light!

There are, of course, so many more resources and hacks we could name that make our marketing lives work for us. But we want to hear yours!
