Tis the season of giving! This year has gone through many changes, but one thing that’s remained constant is the spirit of generosity. So many have donated, volunteered, and shared resources to help improve global transitions in health, safety, and compassion. We’re so thankful for all the spectacular charitable organizations out there who do this good work!
When considering where to direct your own charitable action this #GivingTuesday, however, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by that wealth of options. So, to help you refine your selection process, we offer some of our favorites:
From Sonja, our co-founder:
- Center for Spiritual Awareness, a meditation center in North Georgia.
From Marika, our digital account manager and business development associate:
- Social Change Atlanta, our local chapter of the national nonprofit committed to liberation and amplifying community voices through storytelling, organizing and direct action. My friend who started it comes to Atlanta a lot to personally volunteer from Chicago. I do what I can to help and currently, they are people to knock on doors and make calls until Dec 6 to get people to vote. They also give out food, hygiene products, and more to the homeless.
From Kylie, our social media assistant:
- Bedsider, an online birth control support network, operated by the non-profit Power to Decide, centering around education and access to reproductive and sexual health resources.
- The non-profit connection center GlobalGiving has a Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund that supports humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees.
- The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention and suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ+ youth.
- The First Nations Development Institute, a nonprofit organization that assists Native American tribes, their communities, and Native nonprofits in economic development.
- Native Land Digital, an Indigenous-led Canadian non-profit that’s created an interactive map to represent and educate on Native territories, land acknowledgements, and the history and impact of colonialism.
From Lenaya, our digital marketing associate:
- Atlanta Humane Society, helping Atlanta pets through our pet rescue services
- Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation Inc., educating, activating, motivating and empowering youth in the areas of academic achievement, fitness, and total wellness.
- Thanks Mom & Dad Fund Inc., a charity created to honor parents, grandparents and mentors by supporting programs and services for the aging population.
- World Water Relief, a non-profit working at the school level to influence change in Haiti and the Dominican Republic through installing water filtration systems for safe drinking water, improving sanitation facilities and educating students about the importance of proper hygiene.
This is of course not an exhaustive list of amazing goodwill organizations. We encourage you to research who caters to your local community, as well as widespread ones working on causes you’re passionate about. May you be the gift that keeps on giving. Happy holidays!
